Other Disciplines:

XC mountain, Road (crit / circuit), Gravel

Mike is a masters cyclist whose passion was ignited in 2012 when he was introduced to mountain biking while recovering from an ice hockey injury. He first started cycling competitively in 2016 and began to take it seriously in 2019 while attending training sessions at the Lexus Velodrome (Detroit, MI) with his daughter Rebecca. Track racing joined XC mountain biking soon thereafter, and led him into crit and circuit racing. After hitting a plateau with self-directed training, he joined the KET fold in late 2023 and has been on an upward trajectory ever since. Mike’s racing accomplishments include a state championship (2022 Masters 45+ track omnium), podium finishes in the 2022 and 2024 USAC Madison National Championships, and multiple age group podiums at major gravel and mountain biking events.

Mike spends fall and winter racing in the Mad Track Cycling League’s Pro-Winter Six and Saturday Night Rumble series, competing in the semi-pro A field. In spring through fall he is the head race coach for the Rochester United High School Mountain Bike Team. He also trains coaches how to teach mountain bike skills for the Michigan Scholastic Cycling Association and is a volunteer cycling fitness coach (USAC Level 3 certified) for high school students. He races XC mountain, road, and gravel races as time allows around the track season and his coaching responsibilities.
